Velma Pollard is a retired senior lecturer in language education at the University of the West Indies at Mona. Velma Pollard has published poems and stories in regional and international journals and anthologies. She is the author of a novel, two collections of short fiction and two books of poetry. Her novella, Karl won the Casa de las Americas prize in 1992. The Greatest Philosophers I Know Can't Read or Write is her latest book of poetry.
